Homemade Popcorn
This is one snack I love which has zero calories. Who knew you could make popcorn at home and that too without a popcorn machine. It's that simple and easy. You can have it for teatime, movie nights, and sleepovers. You can make this in different variations, salted, caramel, or Piri Piri.
Ingredients:
Corn kernels - 1/2 Cup
Butter/Oil - 2 tbs
Salt - to taste
Directions:
- In a pressure cooker, heat oil, add the corn kernels, mix them on medium heat, till you start seeing the corn turning light in color.
- Close the lid, turn the heat on high. You will start hearing the sound of the corn popping.
- Turn off the stove when you stop hearing the popping sound.
- Transfer to a bowl sprinkle some salt and serve.
Tips:
- The pressure cooker should be big enough to hold the popped corn inside.
- Alternatively you can use a heavy-bottomed large Kadai with a tightly closed lid.
- For making the Piri Piri version, just sprinkle the Piri powder over the popcorn as soon as you transfer to a bowl. For the caramel version, check out my post here
- For better taste of salted seasoning, grind the salt to powdered form and sprinkle on the popcorn
